Item fields

Main → Settings → Item fields

One screen for everything an item card can hold: the built-in fields, the prices switch, and your own custom fields. Two shortcuts lead here too — → Set up item fields on any item card, and Create your own field… in the import preview.

A gear on a row means the field has more options: tap the gear, not the switch, to open them.

Each switch adds or removes a field across the app — the item form, lists, and search. In screen order:

FieldNotes
TagsFree-form labels for filtering.
SKUYour own article/stock-keeping code.
Barcode The item’s barcode.
DescriptionFree text on the item card.
Unit of Measure Units on quantities.
Minimum Quantity The per-item reorder threshold behind low-stock alerts.
ImageItem photos.
Group Always on — the switch is locked; only the options change.
Quantity Always on, like Group.
SettingWhat it does
Unique Barcodes”Items with identical barcodes forbidden” — saving a duplicate fails with “Item with same barcode already exists” (naming the group where the original lives).
Barcode generation algorithmThe format of barcodes the app generates for items: 12 digits or 16 letters and digits.
SettingWhat it does
Edit Units of MeasureOpens the unit list to add, rename, or remove units.
Default Unit of MeasureThe unit new items start with — Do not use leaves it empty.

The same settings as Settings → Minimum quantity — one setting, two doorways:

SettingWhat it does
Show “Min.Quantity” in item’s screenThe field on the item card — the same switch as the row itself.
Show “Min.Quantity” in list of GoodsThe value as a column in the goods list.
Excel column for Imp/ExpWhich spreadsheet column carries it in imports and exports (Do not use to leave it out).
Color for goods needing reorderThe highlight for items below their minimum.
Show Low Stock AlertsThe master switch for low-stock notifications.
Periodic check interval in hours (0 - instantly)How often stock is compared against the minimums, 0–24 — 0 reacts to changes as they happen.
SettingWhat it does
Unique Groups”Groups (folders) with the same name are not allowed”.
SettingWhat it does
Number of digits after decimal pointHow many decimals quantities carry, 0–10 — 0 for pieces, more for weights and measures.
Allow negative quantity in stockLets an operation that takes stock out (a sale, a transfer) go below zero instead of refusing.
SettingWhat it does
Use Prices Premium“Allow input prices, show prices and amounts” — the same master switch as in Settings → Prices; its opens that screen.

Your own fields — a Size, a Serial number, an expiry date. The custom fields guide walks through creating one; this is what the section holds, top to bottom:

RowWhat it does
Create your own fieldOpens the field editor for a new field.
EditShows once you have fields: drag the handles to reorder them — the item card follows this order — then tap Apply.
Your fieldsOne row each, with its type underneath (“Date · your field”, “Drop-down list · template”). The switch shows or hides the field; opens the editor to change or delete it.
TemplatesReady-made fields not created yet: Expiry date (a Date already set up for expiry tracking), Color (a Drop-down list of six colors with swatches), Size (a Drop-down list: S, M, L, XL), Brand (a String). Switch one on and it becomes a regular field of yours, editable like any other.
  • Turning a built-in field off hides it, it doesn’t erase it: values already entered come back when the field is switched on again. The same goes for a custom field’s switch — it hides the field on this device (item card, lists, the import field picker), the data stays.
  • Changes apply as you make them — there’s no save button. Opened from an item card, the card picks them up when you go back.
  • Fields on operations (StoDo Simple) have their own settings entry — Settings → Custom fields in Operations.
  • In StoDo Online, built-in fields, prices, and creating or editing custom fields belong to the shared database: only the owner or an admin-profile user can change them. Anyone can open the option sheets to look, and two switches stay personal to each device — Show “Min.Quantity” in list of Goods and the custom-field visibility switches.
