Barcode scanner

Main → Settings → Barcode scanner

Everything about how barcodes get read. The first choice — the scanner type — decides which of the sections below the screen shows.

SettingWhat it does
Barcode scanner typeCamera (Mobile Vision) (the default) · Camera (ZXing) · Camera (ZXing v.2 - New!) · Camera (MLKit) · External scanner for a paired hardware scanner.

Shown for every scanner type — this is what Batch scan inside an operation does after each successful read:

SettingWhat it does
After each scanAutoincrement quantity by 1 (+1) — keep scanning, one unit per beep — or Set quantity manually, which pauses for a quantity after each code.
Scan delay (seconds)“Delay time between 2 consequent scans when scanning to documents in batch mode” — raise it if one barcode registers twice.

Beep and Vibrate — the scan feedback.

What else appears depends on the engine:

EngineExtra sections
Mobile VisionGeneral settings — Use front light (On / Off). Camera — Rear camera preview size. Barcode detection — Barcode viewfinder width / Barcode viewfinder height, Minimum barcode width, and Enable barcode size check (“Will prompt user to move camera closer if the detected barcode is too small”).
ZXing (both versions)“When scanning for barcodes, decode…” — 1D Product, 1D Industrial, QR Codes, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417 (β); the last enabled format can’t be switched off. The original ZXing adds General settings (Use front light — On / Automatic / Off — Use auto focus, Invert scan for white-on-black codes, No automatic rotation) and Device Bug Workarounds (No continuous focus, No exposure, No metering, No barcode scene mode).
MLKit”When scanning for barcodes, decode…” — individual symbologies: Code 128, Codabar, Code 39, Code 93, Data Matrix, EAN-13, EAN-8, ITF, UPC-A, UPC-E, Aztec, QR Codes, PDF417 (β).
SettingWhat it does
Suffix (end symbol)Scan parameters → the character your hardware scanner sends after each code: Enter, Tab, or Space — match it to the scanner’s configuration.
  • The same screen opens from the gear inside the scanning view — there it hides the scanner-type row and restarts the scanner with the new settings when you go back.
  • These settings are per-device, also in StoDo Online — a phone at the counter and a warehouse tablet can run different engines.
  • Scanning misbehaving? Switching the engine is the first move — the troubleshooting guide walks through it.
